“Path to Green World”-Tree Planting Project

When today, the most significant issue we have faced are environmental pollution and climate changing. After the industrialization, the most countries tried to become industrialized without any planning regarding the environment. Also this was similar question to our country. Because, deforestation rate and air pollution are  high in Sri Lanka.

So, we decided to hold a tree planting project in the Matugama Town in several years ago and it was fulfilled at the same time. So, in this month we decided to purify these plants and to expand the tree planted area. We chose 21st of September as the date to hold this project. At the day of project we jointed in the Matugama town and started our project by 7.30 am. Firstly, we purified plants which planted in several years ago from Matugama town to Agalawaththa Town. In this, we examined the progress of the plants and put the fertilizers and waters for them. Also we replanted the trees instead of lifeless trees.

After that work, we launched the other part of the project. Thus, tree planting project from Agalawaththa to Bellana. In this, we could plant the most shady plants and valuable plants. Finally, we could conclude our project by 3.00pm and all we became proud on ourselves due to our work.

"Gamen Gamata"-the Multi Service Project

The most of adult people of the world are suffering with the eye problems. But the most of them don’t pay attention about their eye protection due to some especial conditions like poverty. Therefore they don’t like to pay money for recovery of their eyes. So, we decided to donate reading glasses for them joining with Matugama Lions club members, Police Station, Matugama and Agriculture Department.

So, we selected Iddhagoda School as the place to occur this special event because that day was some special public event organized by Matugama Police Station including peoples’ complaints reporting and resolving, making background for create National Identity cards for those who haven’t national identity card etc. so, that day hundred of people came to the School for their private matters and the most they were adult. The officers of “Agriculture Department” also joined hands with us in this great event as an invitation of ours. They distributed the many vegetable plants to the people in free of charge.

From the beginning of the project we felt some difficulties because we couldn’t control the crowd due to the jostle of the mass. But by end of the project we could get around 100 reading glasses with the especial eye test. Finally we could end up our project by 2.00pm with pleasure hearts. Because we realized it is one of the most needed equipment for the adults.
